What does anse la butte mean?

"Anse" means "bay" or "sound", and "la butte" means "the hill" but there does not seem to be any water around to explain the name, or any hill, for that matter, at 16 feet elevation. If we're talking about the place in Louisiana just NE of Lafayette.

Maybe it was a bayou earlier on, like some places around ALB who have "bayou" in their name?
