How does electricity contribute to the development of technology?

Electricity can be used to energize the electronic instruments such as calculator, computer, etc. These device help a lot for scientists and engineers to develop new things. For an example, before a civil engineer can build a tall building, they will simulate the building in the computer software for a few reason such as simulation condition of the building during the earthquake, maybe to calculate the right composition of cement used in making the concrete. For an electrical engineer, they use the computer to simulate the circuitry before start making the circuit in real life. It is more time-efficient to simulate it on a computer before applying things in real life. So, electricity will make the development of technology faster as well as more time and cost efficient.
