The northern Uganda war, primarily involving the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan government, is often considered to have concluded in 2006 when the LRA's leader, Joseph Kony, fled to neighboring countries. Although the conflict officially ended, sporadic violence and LRA attacks continued for several years. Peace talks held in Juba, South Sudan, between 2006 and 2008 aimed to resolve the conflict, but a complete resolution took longer to achieve. The region has since made efforts to recover and rebuild.
