Did Amelia Earhart get pneumonia in world war 1?

There is some evidence(Letters from amelia) by Jean Backus, that she had a bout with Pleurisy in the ealry twenties. Obviysly peole do not brag about illnesses or potential handicapping situations. There is a lot of interesting material in this book that is not very well documented, lilke an accident-rescue sequence that involved Earhart and another aviatrix, possibly Louise Thaden- I have fialed to substantiate that one, which cetainly would have made the papers.
