Why has the lord asked Mephistopeles to visit heaven in from faust part1?

The Lord asked Mephistopheles to visit heaven in "Faust Part 1" as part of a bet to test Faust’s faith and loyalty. The Lord wanted to see if Mephistopheles could corrupt Faust and lead him astray from his faith.
