Is the bald eagle a patriotic symbol?

In the standard of American history, yes. We have made it our symbol, admiring it's power, and regal look. Ben Franklin wanted the wild turkey as our symbol, because he said it was a more noble bird than the bald eagle, which he considered a robber, because it sometimes takes fish from ospreys.
