What is the original habitat for a beagle?

Dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years, so for all intents and purposes, their habitat is wherever a human makes it. However, if you are wondering where their habitat is in the same sense as "Where is a hamster's habitat" (which is also domesticated but can be traced to Syria), that is a complicated question.
