Blackbeard, whose real name was Edward Teach, primarily sailed the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea during his piracy career in the early 18th century. His notorious exploits took place around the waters of the West Indies and along the eastern coast of the American colonies. He is most famously associated with the waters around the Bahamas and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
