1985 cavalier cranks but will not start?

There can be several things wrong. How many miles is on the car?? Most cases if a vehicle will not start but does crank over then ethier there is no spark or no fuel. You need to trouble shoot the problem so you will not end up replacing parts that you do not need. There is a simple test to eliminate it is a spark or fuel problem. If you have starting fluid, have someone crank over the engine while you spray a little starting fluid in the throttle body. If the car starts but shuts down right away then you have a fuel problem. If it does not start then you have a spark problem and it could anything from a simple tune up to the coil packs went bad. Also, there is a electronic control module underneath the distributer cap. They do go bad every 30,000 miles and it costs about 30 dollars. If it is the coil packs they also cost about 30 dollars a piece and there are 2 of them.
