Teenage pregnancy has not always been socially unacceptable--in the past people often got married in their teen years and had children soon after marriage. In some cultures this is more common than in Western cultures where people are now waiting longer to marry and have children.

It isn't "teen" pregnancy so much that is viewed as a problem, but "unmarried" teen pregnancy. This is because of the unfortunate outcomes for the mothers as well as the children when they do not have the financial support and other benefits that come with having two parents capable of earning decent wages. In modern Western culture, employment for teen males as well as females tends to be on the low-paying side.
