How much do pandas move?

Pandas are generally not very mobile animals; they typically roam within a home range of about 2 to 4 square kilometers (0.8 to 1.5 square miles) in search of food, primarily bamboo. They spend most of their day eating—up to 12 hours—and can move around 1 to 2 kilometers (0.6 to 1.2 miles) daily. While they can climb trees and swim, they prefer to stay in their preferred habitats within the mountainous regions of China.
