What is the origin of classical poetry?

Classical poetry' has a variety of meanings, with one of the most typical being 'poetry of the ancient world.' It is most often used, however, to denote 'poetry written in an age of superior creativity.' Poetry of this sort is to be found in periods and among poets that are understood to have achieved greater mastery of their craft than poets of other periods for some reason or another, perhaps because they established precedents for insight or sophistication that continue to be relevant. It should not be overlooked that these two meanings are sometimes used to refer to the same period of poetry-making.
