Where did the word sauerkraut originate?

China, it was created as a cheap way to feed workers while they worked on the Great Wall of China. they found evidence of it from 200 BC in China.

But back then, they used wine, not brine to make it. There is a form similar to saurkraut made in Korea, called Kimchi. That form of it is on the spicy side.
