There are very few jobs available on the market that can directly effect people's lives in a positive way. These jobs are sometimes very obvious like police officers but often they are much more subtle. One of the best examples of this situation is a Certified Public Accountant. A CPA can affect people's lives in many positive ways and leads to a very fulfilling career.

It is important to note that anyone that might be considering becoming a CPA that there is a certification required. It is not enough to simply hold an accounting degree. Anyone that represents themselves as a CPA without actually being certified is committing a crime. The certification is not simple to obtain but can result in a substantial boost to income once earned.

Accountants are often looked upon as boring and for good reason. Most people find number crunching to be boring work with little reward. This does not hold true for a CPA. When a person needs a CPA they are usually in dire financial straights. These individuals are being audited by the Internal Revenue Service typically and desperately need a CPA to straighten out their financial records. It is here that the work of a Certified Public Accountant becomes satisfying and impacts people positively. In most cases these members of the public sector have simply committed a filing error and not done something malicious. A professional such as a CPA can help untangle any accidental misinformation and help an individual get out from under an unintentional mistake. In rarer cases, professional accountants have also helped catch those that were attempting to game the system and make things worse for the rest of the public.

Accounting is hardly a glamorous job. The men and women that crunch numbers all day have a brutal work week that offers little personal reward. There are moments in the life of a CPA in which they know that their work has helped save the finances and well being of an individual that made a mistake. It is for this reason that many accountants continue the daily drudgery of adding and subtracting huge amounts of numbers.
