What did Michael Jackson do to become famous?

Michael Jackson had 8 world records by the time of his death in 2009. He also is the only person to get 8 Grammies in one night ( even tough he was nominated for 12). Let's face it fan or not Michael made a huge impact on the world and the is why he was named "The Most Successful Entertainer of All Time" by the Guinness Book of World Records ( If you don't believe me look in the 2011 edition on page 189. It is the award in Michael's hands.) :)
