How do you set a recorded sound as your ringtone on the lg 800g?

Go to the sounds section of your phone. then choose the sound you want as your ringtone. go to options and pick send to. and send it to your number. when you receive the sound, go to options again but for the message and choose set as ringtone

This doesn't work for me -- when I go to sounds -> call ringtone, the only option I have is Get New Ringtones. When I select it, I get 3 options: Bing, VCAST Song ID, and VZW Tones Deluxe. None of these 3 options allow me to use a *.wav music file on my LG chocolate phone as a ringtone -- I can only go out to VCAST and pay for a limited number of ringtones, or go to Bing and search for ringtones (I'm guessing) HELP, please....
