Why were the battle of Lexington and concord important?

The Battles of Lexington and Concord were important for they were the first battles of the Evolutionary War. These battles occurred on April 19, 1775, in Middlesex county which is a province of then Massachusetts Bay (now just Massachusetts) within the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Mentomy (now Arlington), and Cambridge. These towns are just outside of Boston.
