Why can't you crush gabapentin?

I found no contraindications to crushing or opening the tablets only to use the open or cut tab at the next dose - not to leave a cut capsule exposed.

"You may break the scored tablets into two pieces, but make sure you use the second half of the tablet as the next dose."

Please follow whatever directions your doctor has given for your unique situation but feel free to inquire about anything that you need clarification.
