What did Martha chase discover?

Martha Chase, along with Alfred Hershey, conducted experiments in the early 1950s that demonstrated DNA is the genetic material of viruses. Their work with the T2 bacteriophage, a virus that infects bacteria, showed that only the DNA from the virus, not its protein coat, was necessary for the infection of bacteria.
