What does it mean and do you have to take it back to the dealer if your 2004 Chevy Tahoe with 30800 miles recently gives a dashboard message saying service tire monitor?

Same Tahoe same problemI have same model and same problem "service tire monitor" message. Also "Service 4-wheel drive" message appears. We took the truck to the dealer today. It cost $70 to have the problems analyzed only to find out that it is only a couple of "sensors" and for about $400 and 3 1/2 hours the problems can be fixed. No thanks, I'll just continue to push the knobbutton thingy which selects trip/hours/total mileage. It clears the messages for a while and doesn't cost anything to push. However, it does get tiresome seeing those messages so if anyone knows how to disable ........I'll do it.

You usually can get replacement monitors after market at some tire dealerships at a greatly discounted price.
