AnswerAssuming you have an automatic transmission, the dipstick is toward the drivers side of the engine compartment. It is a red plastic handle. You should either check the fluid level when the transmission is fully cold or fully hot (i.e. has been driven several miles) as the dipstick is marked for both conditions. If you have a standard shift transaxle, you must raise the car up on a level lift. You will see a big 15/16" plug, also on the driver's side, but on the bottom front of the trans. You may need to remove 1 or 2 --10mm bolts to access the fill plug. I believe it requires 85w90 gear oil. 4wd vehicles need a special type lube. 2002 Camrys need type T fluid. You did not specify model year, type of transmission, 2wd or 4wd, 4 or 6 cylinder, etc. As there are so many different transmission for Camrys of the various year models, read the dipstick or your owner's manual, for exact fluid type. A Haynes manual is also a great resource for do-it-yourself mechanics.
Ti fill, simply pour the automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) into the dipstick tube using a small funnel, just like with American cars.
