Why did supertramp break up?

Supertramp broke up primarily due to internal tensions and creative differences among band members, particularly between co-founders Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies. By the late 1970s, Hodgson sought to pursue a more personal and introspective musical direction, while Davies preferred a more collaborative approach. These differences led to a decline in their working relationship, culminating in Hodgson's departure in 1983. Although the band continued to tour and release albums afterward, they never regained the same level of success or cohesiveness.
