Can you regular hair dye to highlight your hair?

Yes, you can color your hair to one color. The color you choose will over take the highlights as long as it doesn't have built in highlights itself.

I would recommend you see your Hairdresser in regards to the highlights because some hair dyes can contrast with highlights and cause a very unusual hair color. Because of this see your hairdresser.

I had dark blonde hair, and I got blonde highlights. I got bored with it so I dyed my hair dark brown. Some parts were lighter because of the blonde highlights, but it didn't turn green or anything. So I say it would be ok to go ahead and change colors.
