What does no passes mean at movie theaters?

In the theatre I work at, no passes means that certain coupons or passes are not valid for a particular show. This is usually because they are very new. This generally applies only to certain coupons (ie. not those given to employees). Speaking as someone who works at a theatre, we tend to accept passes anyway, even when the website or newspaper says not to. I'd bring it and give it a shot, just in case they let you use it.
