Since her mother died, Jennie Joslin has lived with her dad, who has moved houses seven times. His new house, Jennie discovers, is haunted.

Her next door neighbour, April, is a girl who plays the violin moves in at crescent hill (where Jennie lives). April is frightened by a crying woman she hears in her basement.
