The Q in Q-Tips stands for Quick. Actually, when Leo Gerstenzang invented them in the early 1920s, they were called 'Baby gays'. In the 1926, they were renamed 'Q-Tips baby Gays'. Eventually, it was shortened to just 'Q-Tips'. Apparently 'Q' stands for 'quality'.
