Does removing one ovary cause early menopause?

Removing one ovary, a procedure known as oophorectomy, does not typically cause early menopause on its own. The remaining ovary often continues to produce hormones and function normally. However, if both ovaries are removed, menopause will occur immediately. Other factors, such as age and individual health conditions, can also influence the onset of menopause.
