Consult your manual for the correct valve position your valve will be located on top of the sand canister, it generally should be labeled, however if it isn't or you can't find your manual with the specific position you can usually find a manual online, after this connect your waste line and set your valve to backwash, do this until the water begins to clear after this, shut down your pump and switch to rinse cycle while rinsing watch for the look glass tube to become clear if your pump does not posses a look glass generally 3 minutes if rinsing is enough, after this your pump is ready to resume normal filtration,
