How do you qualify as a lawyer in New York?

To study law in New York, you must have good academics. But these days a lot of people who are appealing have good academics. So NYU is looking for people who are in extra curricular activities, ( sports, languages, speech and debate, music etc) and interests in a lot of things. basically they are looking for a person who like and doing a lot of different activities.
