Crude protein is calculated using the formula: Crude Protein (CP) = Nitrogen Content (N) x 6.25. This formula is based on the assumption that proteins contain, on average, 16% nitrogen. Therefore, by measuring the nitrogen content of a sample and multiplying it by 6.25, one can estimate the total protein content in that sample.
