Eastern Blue Gropers are Saltwater Fish. They are found along the southern coastal waters of Australia.

Eastern Blue Groper habitats range from Hervey Bay in Queensland to Wilsons Promontory in Victoria.

Western Blue Groper habitats range from Houtman Abrolhos to Melbourne.

They live along the coast, mostly in exposed reefs and feed on invertebrates such as sea urchins, crabs and mussels.

All Gropers are born female. When they begin to mature, their bodies go through a phase that may transform them into males or keep them as females.
