Also on a side note: A lot of times the vessel is opened up, and the graft is placed inside the vessel then the vessel is sutured around the graft. The sutures penetrate the vessel and the graft. Dacron does not cause any postoperative immunization reactions, and over time, tissue grows around the graft.
