More than likely, whomever used the Word was referring to a hairstyle that isn't a fashion statement. Conservative hair in the work place would be a hairdo that is out of your face and eyes, clean, a natural-looking color and neatly kept. If you have long hair, a french twist, pulled back in a neat clip or a bun, would be classic examples. If you have shorter hair, not something spikey nor frizzy nor anything you need to constantly be pulling behind your ear to keep from falling into your eyes. Hope this helps. :)
