YOUR QUESTION MAY HAVE BEEN REDIRECTED HERE! We receive many Qs the answer for which may be found in the brief below. The blank forms are available all over the net, incl...www.irs.org Your own personal one just depends on if that employer uses a service and provdes it on line...most don't (yet). Call and ask if they do and what site it is at, and for login info. (obviously security of this private information is a major concern). In either case, W-2s are required to be SENT by the end of January, and as the information to be provided takes time to compile and check, most employers do so close to that date. There is no consistant filing/reporting timing or mailing by alpahabet, etc. It basically depends on each accounting areas or payroll service, if the printer breaks down, etc. It is not uncommon that an employer may mail to different groups of employees at different times. Your employer is the only one to answer when they expect to send theirs...and bothering your payroll/accounting area shortly after year end, and before something is due...may well get you a curt response! Finally, the form given to you in many ways isn't that important...just making one from a blank would do you no good, in fact cause many troubles. The W-2 you send to IRS (and info on your return from it), MUST match the one the employer send to the IRS. If not, much of your next year will be spend answering why it doesn't and why you forged a form.
