What does haemoglobin and oxygen form in the lungs?

In the lungs, haemoglobin binds to oxygen to form oxyhaemoglobin. This process occurs as oxygen molecules diffuse from the alveoli into the blood, where they attach to the iron atoms in the haemoglobin molecules.
