Camouflage allows animals to blend in to their surroundings and make it harder for other animals to see you.

If you are a well-camouflaged prey animal and can't be seen, you can't be easily identified and eaten by a predator.

Or, if you are well camouflaged a predato it is easier for you to sneak up on your prey without being detected, or have the prey not notice you and come near enough for your to pounce and get a good meal.

The better your camouflage, the higher the chance you will survive to reproduce.
