Is it a good idea to put thread lock on the main cap bolts of a Chevy sb 283?

Not necessary.

Although not necessary, many machine shops use a drop on the main and rod caps as "insurance".

Since it doesn't harm anything and it MIGHT prevent a bearing cap from working loose, why not?
