If you are using Windows 2000, XP or Vista (or variants):

To locate bad sectors and attempt to recover data on drive letter C,

Click start, click run, then type "chkdsk c: /r /f"

A black command prompt window should pop up. It will ask you if you'd like to schedule a chkdsk on the next restart. Answer yes. Restart.

This process should remap bad sectors.
