Yes, it is fiction. Johanna Spyri, a Swiss author who died in 1901, was the creator of "Heidi". Interesting, fiction is being morphed in "fact". Two cities claim to be the birthplace of Heidi, and have gone to a lot of trouble to become tourist attractions.
