Why would a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse start right up most of the time and sometimes it doesn't make any connection at all?

check battery cables to make sure that they are clean, tight, and making good contact. also check negative cable from battery where it is grounded to body.

check connections to electronic ignition to starter.

More than likely something is loose. could be almost anywhere in ignition system, but these are first places to check.
