Can sandstone be used for a patio surface?

First of all, if a someone was to fall over, friction from the rough ground will painfully react for a long period of time. Also, after a couple of years the substance will produce algae, and will turn green. Overall, I conclude, as many others would, that sandstone is not a good substance for a patio surface.
