How do you clean sticky residue?

If it is sticky with anything sweet with sugar, water only spreads it and makes it worse. Use VINEGAR! Any kind! I once tried to make fondant (more like attempted to make fondant) for my Birthday cake and got sticky powdered sugar everywhere! used a little Apple cider vinegar on a paper towel and it worked like a charm. another time I spilled some Apple juice (not a good idea) and forgot about it. since we had run out of our jug of Apple cider vinegar, I just used some malt vinegar I had in the fridge. It got the same results.

Alternatively, use two buckets of water/vinegar to clean the sticky mess. Wash with one, rinse with the other.
