The pecan tree produces a nut, which is the fruiting structure to propagate the species. I believe most all trees produce some sort of 'fruiting' structure to reproduce. Albeit a nut, fruit, nutlet, winged seed, or other type which help it to disperse the species.

An example of another type: Cottonwood tree seeds are very small and have a tuft of what appears to be a cottony plume (parachute) to float the seed on wind currents to distant places from the female tree, which produces the seed.
