Its primary functions include the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which helps to cushion the brain and maintain intracranial pressure, as well as housing important nuclei involved in autonomic functions. Additionally, it serves as a pathway for CSF to flow into the subarachnoid space surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
