How do you change skins on Battlefield 3?

In Battlefield 3, the player can change their appearance or 'skins / camouflage' by first unlocking new appearances by levelling/ranking up, then once the player has more than one appearance, they then open 'My Solider' from the main menu, then 'Customise' and then open the 'Appearance' sub-menu and select the desire skin.

The player can also change their appearance in-game. To do this, open the in-game menu, then open up the 'Customise' sub-menu and then choose 'Appearances'.
