China's economic system is referred to as "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics". Under this system, all property is nominally owned by the state, but is leased to entrepreneurs and companies for their own use. A large private sector with numerous small, medium-sized and large enterprises (especially in consumer goods, entertainment, agriculture and electronics) exist alongside a number of large State-Owned Companies that are partially state-controlled, partially privatized (often with foreign investment). Thus the system is a hybrid of a market economy and a leninist planned economic system.
