How do you replace vehicle speed sensor on a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder?

If your speedometer wont work and your check engine lite is on and your cruise wont work, you probably need a speed sensor. its in the transfer case near the rear passenger side on a 1998. 4x4. If it is stuck in and wont come out then it will break when you try and remove it. i did something out of the box to fix mine.you could remove the transfer case and open it up to get it out but i just drilled a hole under the location of the sensor...yes right into the case....then used a small punch to knock the old stuck sensor out. some fluid leaked out but not much. then after install and hookup of new sensor i just tapped the hole i had drilled and cut a bolt real short so not to contact sensor . put gasket sealer on bolt thred it in snug it up and job is done works great no leaks. DO NOT JUST DRILL ANY OLD PLACE. AND DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU CANT UNDERSTAND WHAT I HAVE DONE. YOU MUST BE SOMEWHAT MECHANICLY INCLINED TO DO THIS. YOU MAY DESTROY YOUR TRANSFER CASE IF NOT DONE RIGHT........to all those backyarders out there.....ENJOY
