Why is a spider monkey classified in animalia?

The spider monkey is a primate of the genus Ateles. Like all monkeys and other primates, it is a mammal and therefore an animal (kingdom Animalia). It is definitely not a plant, fungus, bacteria, or protist, which make up the other extant kingdoms.
