1. We eat too much of junk food. Junk food is harmful to our health and it is one of the main cause of obesity. Obesity leads to diseases which in turn can risk our life also.
2. We rely more on technology than our bodies. We are too lazy that we do not exercise and takes the shortest possible way in every situation. We are completely dependent on gadgets one can not live without gadgets in this modern world.
3.We take too much of supplements for maintaining our health instead of exercises.Due to this our body adjust itself to this easy way of living and when we fall ill our body is prone to disease and no capsules and supplements can help our body recover quickly because our immune system is weakened due to the use of such medicines

BEING ILL ITSELF IS A BROAD TERM . DEFINITION OF ILLNESS IS WHEN A PERSON IS UNFIT EITHER MENTALLY,PHYSICALLY,EMOTIONALLY OR CONTAMINATED WITH ANY HARMFUL ORGANISM . NOW IF A PERSON IS MENTALLY UNFIT ,HOW CAN HE FEEL ANYTHING EVEN GUILTY. IF HE IS BORN HANDICAPPED OR BY ANY ACCIDENT,ITS NOT HIS FAULT.ON EMOTION HE HAVE NO CONTROL,HE HAVE A LIMITED CONTROL ON BEING EFFECTED BY OTHER ORGANISM. A PERSON SHOULD BE GUILTY HE HE GETS ILL BY HIS OWN NEGLEGENCE LIKE HAVING POOR EATING HABBIT,IF HE REMAIN UNCLEAN,IF LEAVING UNHEALTHY LIFESTYLE

If this is a homework assignment and you are on the opposing side of the question, you have your work cut out for you.
Stress plays a major role in illnesses. This will be brought up and the only response I can think of is; for people who are sane it can become a choice to not endure so much stress by the way we choose to handle each and every situation along with how long we allow our own minds to re-play any bad situations or keep it in our minds.
Also stress came from an initial problem to begin with and some people can't just turn their minds on and off to keep stress at bay that could potentially ward off some illnesses.
Many illnesses are caused by the environment. Look around as everything makes or can make you ill. It's in food, water, preservatives, and even healthy things such as insecticides on vegetables and fruit. Cows are given a range of injections to make them "taste better" but what is that doing to our health?
There are more things we can not control in society that makes us ill than things we can. I believe this is a reason behind many illnesses today along with Autism, Parkinson's, MS, and so many diseases that are auto immune diseases.
Honestly, I do believe we as humans are capable of causing ourselves to be ill just as much as the environment and other causes.
Between the food we choose to eat, smoking, alcohol, drugs (legal or otherwise), and lack of exercise along with stress we are a top country in this world in which people do not take care of themselves and in your defense on this topic, we have a horrible health care system which causes illnesses or causes them to go undetected due to lack of insurance or doctors that are not well trained in certain fields that could find out what is wrong with us before going through so much.
Stress is I believe a number ONE killer so be ready to defend that.

Title: Are We Making Ourselves Ill?

I. Could People Be Making Themselves Ill?
a. One view says yes given the tendencies of Americans to have poor health habits
1. smoking
2. junk food and over-eating
3. over use of medications
b. One view says no; genetics and the environment play a huge role in our health
1. genetics decides a lot about us from what we look like to what kinds of illnesses we may have
2. most humans even with good health practices will end up very sick at some point
3. we are living longer than generations before us (this is still true for two of the current Demographics living right now, not the newest generation)

II. Yes, We are Making Ourselves Ill
1. Food
a. is not nutritious for modern Americans (hormones, salt, corn syrup, processing)
b. Americans eat too much of the food they have
c. is too expensive to purchase when it's healthy
2. Habits
a. More people spend hours online instead of moving around and interacting
b. people are still starting up smoking and drinking heavily despite research and promotions against it, the same is true of illegal drugs
c. Few people exercise all parts of their body efficiently, they are habitually sedentary
3. Lack of self healing
a. Americans are told to ask doctors about drugs instead of doctors recommending them
b. the majority of the population over 20 years is on a drug that they have been on for years
c. more people would rather be prescribed an antibiotic than try to allow themself to heal from a virus on their own.

III. No, We are Not Making Ourselves Ill
1. Genes make disease, too
a. many diseases like Diabetes and cancers have tendencies in families
b. most people who suffer from an illness have family that has also suffered before them
2. The Environment is Mostly Beyond our Control
a. the planet changes cyclically and our existence depends on it
b. even with reports gathered, it has been proven that we cannot completely change the cleanliness, radioactivity, and composition of water, soil, and air . . . these things will change on their own either for good or bad.

IV. Conclusion: We are Making Ourselves Ill
1. We are eating too much bad food and not enough good food.
2. We are developing and facilitating poor habits and even harmful ones.
3. We are not training our bodies to handle sickness and we are not utilizing healing plants in the name of convenient drugs.
4. Even with things in genetics and the environment beyond our control, there are still proven factors that we are ignoring that are making us sick by our choices.

You might want to emphasize that the medical calling went from being a field to the 'health-care industry' so it is no longer treated as something important and sacred, but as another way of making money. Sick people bring in money, so why would they be discouraged from making themselves ill? More people are doctored, not heal. Doctoring adds to or takes away from while healing brings a person back to their optimum state of balance.
