Does Iceburg lettue effect tortoises

Not really - Lettuce is a VERY poor food source, as there's almost no nutritional value to it. You'd be better off feeding it cabbage leaves, broccoli etc as these are rich in iron. Feed lettuce only as a 'treat' once a month.
